As classroom teacher of children in grades one through 8, parent coordinator, elementary and middle school principal, and executive director of twenty-six middle schools, I have had the pleasure to work with so many wonderful people over my career in urban education.
One thing that has been a consistent mantra throughout these various phases of my career is that "All children can learn and learn at high levels." We all must constantly believe and practice this blief for each child for whom we have been given responsibility. If we don't believe they can, they surely "will not!"
"There is a better way to do this." We must thoroughly believe and seek "the better way" daily if our children are going to be successful in the global economy in which we live. By finding "the better way" our children benefit from our instructional efforts, and they increase their learning.
